Chantiers de l’Atlantique
The client’s objectives and expectations
To make up for delays caused by the assembly and manufacturing phases, as the A35 is the only LNG-powered vessel and therefore not an exact sister ship of the “Wonder of the Seas” which led to assembly issues. The shipowner had contractually set delay penalties at €350,000 per day of late delivery, as tickets for the inaugural cruise had all been sold as early as 2023.
Our main responsibilities
Commissioning, testing and start-up of HVAC systems, diesel systems (partially), and HCR (Hotel Room Control: passenger and crew cabin utilities).
Project characteristics
Cruise ship operated by Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, built at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire. It is the first and only Oasis-class cruise ship equipped with generators capable of operating on either MGO or LNG. The vessel is constructed with 525,000 m² of steel plating, 5,000 km of electrical wiring, and 90,000 m² of carpeting.
